We are currently accepting submissions for the next collection in our 'Radgepacket' series. Volume Six of the collection will be out in March of next year and the deadline for subs is August 26th 2011. The last five anthologies have been well received and given valuable exposure to a host of unhinged unknowns so don't delay - start scribbling today!
What we're looking for is short fiction relating to modern day British life, by short we mean three thousand words or less and by British life we mean that we want you to reflect the grimy, seedy, drug fuelled, hilarious, absurd and violent country we have become.
Your piece needs to be snappy, tight and so gripping that if we start reading it and the phone rings we don't even think about answering - even if it's Jennifer Aniston, Sienna Miller and the female cast of Hollyoaks inviting us to a party round at theirs...again.

Now this is important so listen carefully, we want you to send the story in the body of the email, any submission sent as an attachment will be deleted without being opened - as you all know there are some nasty, horrible people out in the world today (you might have wrote about them...) and we don't want to take any chances do we?
As well as the story we'd like a short bio about you - four lines is plenty. Right then, if you've got all that and you fancy a go then don't hang about - get it in now....
Now competition to get into our radge little book is becoming ever more fierce and the bar is getting raised with each issue so you need to make your story a good one. Make it polished, take out the typo's and try to impress us....good luck!
Ps - if you want a heads up on the kind of stuff we like then you should consider investing in a previous volume - stands to reason doesn't it?
Novels
Sorry but our lists are full for the foreseeable future so we aren't currently accepting submissions.
Our lists are pretty much full for the next year but we will take a look at anything that fits our ethos, specifically British crime fiction (doesn't have to neccessarily be about a crime, just have a crime in it) and working class sporting pursuits.
In the vein of I'm Rivelino, we welcome subs that involve a wry, humorous look at British sports, be they from a fans or players point of view. For instance did you take up Boxing or Greyhound Racing? Do you support a team that could never be described as glamorous? You get the picture?
If you think you've got something we'd like and it fits one of the two genres specified above then you can contact us at radgepacketsubs@bykerbooks.co.uk with an initial query email that has the book title and word count in the subject line and a brief 500 word synopsis as well as some info about you in the mail. If we like the sound of it we'll request a couple of chapters from you and take it from there.
Please make sure that when you query us your work is actually finished and ready to be seen. If you've only done one draft of your opus and the ink is still wet from the printer then you really need to be thinking long and hard about whether you should be submitting it yet - you only get one chance to impress us....
Finally, anyone not following our quite reasonable subs procedures needs to know what'll happen to their work. Anyone who has the dedication, perseverance, determination and all round bollocks to write a novel has our utmost respect and deserves better than for that book to be thrown straight in the bin unread because they didn't follow the wishes of the mean and nasty publisher from the north.....but that's what'll happen so think on.
