Welcome to the world of Byker
Our brief is simple, we want to promote good, unknown writers, entertain the reader and have a bit of a laugh. Our literary heroes are the likes of Irvine Welsh, Christopher Brookmyre, Kevin Sampson, Alan Sillitoe, Danny King, Max Kinnings and Charlie Williams. That list isn't exhaustive, in fact we could go on for days about the stuff we like, but it should give you an idea of what we want to showcase on the site, publish in the future and generally read every day.
That's enough about us for now though, why don't you peruse the 'Radgepacket Online' page, maybe have a look at 'Our Publications' and then let us know what you think via the email address on the 'Contact Us' page. Maybe you'll get inspired enough to start scribbling yourself, submit it to us and become a global superstar.....or maybe not.
Whatever happens you can sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that edgy British fiction isn't quite dead after all. The boy wizards, 'celebrity' authors and chick lit set haven't quite closed all the outlets for stories that might actually relate to you.
Stuff that you might want to know.....or not
We're a group of people from the North East of England who aren't that enthralled by reading the memoirs of someone who was briefly on a crap reality show and, after bitching for some years, actually decided to get off our arses and do something about it.
The result, as it stands at the present time, is this site. We want to use it to promote writers who are ignored elsewhere, writers who don't fit into rigid 'genres', writers who are new and uncertain, writers who hail from working class backgrounds but most of all, writers who live in the real world and know that it's not fair.
We plan to put together quarterly collections and ensure that copies get dropped on to the desks of literary agents up and down the country. If finances permit we'd also like to publish full length works by new authors but.....firstly, the site has to take off and then we'll take it from there.
Anyway, we've wittered on enough, have a look at the Radgepacket Online page, check out the work already on there and if you like the look of it then stick us in your favourites and keep coming back. If you're a writer and fancy seeing where exhibiting your stuff with us can get you then check out the 'Contact Us' page for submission details.
There's another email address on there as well for general comments / correspondence and we'd like to know what you think good or bad so feel free to use it.
Cheers
The BB crew
